Story # 3
Local Restaurant Worker is stabbed and killed by a masked man in an attempted robbery.
“He came into my office, and we chatted about what happened in the restaurant the night before, and I asked him to make me some coffee. After he brought me a cup, I walked out to the corridor with him. That was the last time I saw him.”
These were the words of Nina Cortez, the bookkeeper for the North Point Inn restaurant located in Roseville, MN. According to Cortez, her work day started normal just as if it were a regular day; however this day would be far from her average shift at the restaurant.
Cortez arrived to work at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday the 5th of October. She then proceeded on to what she always does, having a routine chat with fellow co-worker and man in charge of the restaurant in the morning, Kevin Blohm. She then begins to count the cash and receipts from the previous night for the restaurants books. Her day would soon change in a way that she would never forget . Shortly after nine o’clock she was interrupted from her duties by a man carrying a knife and demanding the money from her. “I started screaming and kicking. My chair was on rollers , and when I started kicking, it fell. I fell on the floor, and he reached across my desk and grabbed $130 in five-dollar bills.”
Cortez tells that the man, who was wearing a flowered scarf to disguise his face, said nothing. He just took her money and left her. During this time is when she recalls hearing the voice of a second culprit. Within minutes after the man left her room the police were in attendance of the restaurant, this is where Cortez would find the most disturbing part of her whole morning. In the hallway of her restaurant laid her supervisor, Kevin Blohm, dead with multiple stab wounds in his body.
The Investigation of this tragic story is still ongoing. The Roseville Police Department will greatly appreciate any and all tips .
